The Philippines is off to a powerful start at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, thanks to the grit and determination of Filipino cyclist Mark Lowel Valderama, who secured a bronze medal in the MTB Cross-Country Eliminator event.

Racing under Go for Gold and proudly carrying the Philippine colors, Valderama delivered a relentless performance on the challenging course in Thailand. His run showed exceptional strength, strategy, and heart—qualities that have defined his journey through three SEA Games appearances. This bronze marks his first-ever SEA Games medal, making the victory even more meaningful for the rider and the national cycling community.

Valderama fought his way through competitive heats against top regional athletes, staying composed and aggressive until the final sprint that earned him a podium finish. His achievement also boosts Team Philippines’ early momentum in the cycling events, alongside fellow rider Gart Gaerlan, who also helped set a strong tone for the MTB campaign.

This milestone is a testament to the hard work of the entire crew behind him—athletes, coaches, and support staff who continue to give their all for the flag.

Congratulations, Mark Lowel Valderama!
Your resilience inspires the next generation of Filipino cyclists.
Laban Pilipinas!
