Swedish cyclists delivered impressive performances at the UCI Gravel World Championships in Nannup, Australia, with strong elite finishes from Michael Tjulander and Hanna Johansson, alongside a bronze medal for Göran Lennartsson in the men's 75–79 age category.

Competing on demanding gravel roads featuring steep climbs, muddy sections, and challenging terrain, seven Swedish riders represented their country across the elite and age-group competitions.

Michael Tjulander Finishes 19th in Men's Elite Gravel Race

Michael Tjulander secured 19th place in the Men's Elite 144 km race, finishing 8 minutes and 52 seconds behind winner Magnus Bak Klaris of Denmark.

Tjulander remained competitive throughout much of the race before losing contact with the leading group on a long climb after approximately 80 kilometers.

Despite the demanding conditions, the Swedish rider achieved his pre-race objective of finishing between 10th and 20th place.

His performance demonstrated determination and consistency against a competitive international field of 80 elite male riders.

Hanna Johansson Battles Back to 25th Place

In the Women's Elite 125 km race, Hanna Johansson finished 25th, overcoming a difficult opening section on the challenging Australian gravel course.

The race featured demanding climbs and muddy terrain that tested riders physically and mentally.

Johansson struggled during the early stages but gradually recovered her rhythm after approximately two hours of racing.

She ultimately finished 35 minutes and 52 seconds behind women's champion Marianne Vos of the Netherlands.

Reflecting on her performance, Johansson expressed satisfaction with her result, acknowledging the strength of the international competition and the difficulty of the course.

Her determination to recover from a challenging start highlighted the resilience required in elite gravel racing.
