On the 21st of January, Team COOP took part at the TREK Night Rider Criterium in Adelaide, Australia.

With the circuit amongst the City of Adelaide Festival Village, it’s the perfect way to enjoy a cold one with your mates on a warm summer’s night watching fast racing.

The 1.1km circuit is a course of ‘no recovery’. It’s just one big burn for the cyclists and the positioning of the sprinters is paramount. Stronger teams will need to ensure their teams are well placed for the sprints and the finish.
The race will be fast and furious as the best riders in the country battle it out for bragging rights, with the women racing from 6:15pm and men from 7:30pm.

The riders were:

Georgia Danford 🇳🇿

Kerry Jonker 🇿🇦

Tiril Jørgensen 🇳🇴

Mari Mohr 🇳🇴

Josie Nelson 🇬🇧 (British Criterium Champion)

Sylvie Swinkels 🇳🇱

The criterium was very fast and there were some strong teams at the start such as the WorldTour teams of FDJ-Suez and Human Powered Health.

On this technical course it was important to stay in front. However, the British Criterium Champion Josie crashed and had to abandon the race despite doing a strong performance. At the end Gladys Verhulst broke away solo and won the race. In the sprint for 2nd place it was Georgia Danford who finished in 4th and unfortunately after a good performance the team just missed the podium.
