Every story has a beginning and an end — and for Team Torres-Sobato, the curtain has fallen on yet another exciting road cycling season. It’s been eight months since the team from Huesca pinned on their first race numbers of the year in the Region of Murcia, and since then, they’ve traveled far and wide across countless races. Their journey concluded in style at the final two rounds of the Copa Criterium, where the team once again showed their strength with podium-worthy performances.

The season finale took place over the weekend with two classic stops on the calendar: Tarazona and Utebo. In Tarazona, the race was marked by repeated attacks, and Diego Gonzalo was determined to be at the front. He fought hard and stayed in the mix until the race leader broke away solo, forcing Gonzalo to settle for an impressive 2nd place.

On Sunday in Utebo, Gonzalo and teammate Joel Morales made it into the decisive breakaway. However, a mechanical issue for Morales left Gonzalo isolated once again. Despite the setback, he showcased grit and consistency, once more finishing 2nd on the podium.

This final double-header of the Aragonese challenge also marked the farewell race of veteran rider Quique Herrero. The Zaragoza-born cyclist, the oldest on the team, is also the only rider to have worn the Torres-Sobato jersey for all 10 seasons of the team’s existence. Known for his selfless teamwork throughout his career, Herrero has also proven his talent in events like the Copa Criterium and the World Police & Fire Games. At 39 years old, he now transitions into a full-time role on the team’s staff, continuing to share his experience and leadership off the bike.

With podium finishes, resilience, and a heartfelt farewell, Torres-Sobato closes the 2025 season with plenty to celebrate and even more to look forward to in the seasons ahead.
