The Tour De Entete 2025 has now completed six of its ten planned stages, with riders covering a remarkable 879.8 kilometers so far. On Tuesday, September 16, the peloton took on the 166.2 km sixth stage from Tambolaka to Waingapu, bringing the journey across Sumba Island to a close. Next, the riders will cross over to Flores Island, where Stage 7 will begin in Ende and continue toward Bajawa.

Thrilling Stage 6 Finish

Stage 6 delivered fireworks on the road and stirred up the competition in the green jersey classification.

  • ЁЯеИ Aidan James Dumpit Mendoza (Go For Gold) powered to second place, just 14 seconds behind the stage winner, cementing his strong form and keeping the teamтАЩs hopes alive.

Elsewhere, the leaders in other classifications held steady, ensuring the race remains wide open as the decisive stages approach.

Challenges Beyond the Road

The Tour has been more than a sporting testтАФitтАЩs also been shaped by natureтАЩs challenges.

The original plan for Stage 7 was to run from Larantuka to Maumere, followed by Maumere to Ende. But due to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi and landslides on the MaumereтАУEnde road, the route had to be restructured.

Tragedy struck further when a flash flood in Nagekeo Regency, Flores, claimed nine lives, left three missing, and isolated 18 villages. Faced with these devastating events, race organizers and Governor Melkiades Laka Lena worked together to adapt the itinerary while honoring the communities affected.

The Humanitarian Stage in Ende

In response, organizers introduced a special humanitarian stage in Ende, reflecting the deeper values of the Tour. Riders raced three laps around the city, covering 17.1 km starting from Onelako District.

Governor Melki highlighted the significance of this initiative:

тАЬFrom this bicycle race, we learn that there are ups and downs in life as well. When we are at the top, we can also help those who are less fortunate, such as the victims of natural disasters. ItтАЩs not just about achievements that we strive for in this race, but also the humanitarian values that we need to explore together.тАЭ

On the road, John Patric Sarmiento (7Eleven) delivered a strong ride, seizing second place in this special stage.

More Than a Race

The Tour De Entete 2025 is proving to be more than just a battle for jerseys and podiums. It has become a journey of resilience, unity, and compassionтАФa reminder that even in the face of hardship, sport can bring people together and inspire hope.

As the peloton continues its journey deeper into Flores and toward the final stages, the riders carry with them not only the thrill of competition but also the spirit of solidarity.
