Cala Bocchino Opens the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay Femenina with a Win

Cala Bocchino of D’Amico–CCN Women Cycling Team won the prologue of the inaugural Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay Femenina, taking the victory by just 0.38 seconds.

The Argentine rider edged out Brazilian time trial champion Tamires Radatz, who finished second, while Uruguay’s Florencia Revetria completed the podium in third. Rayssa Andrade also placed inside the top 10, finishing 10th.

A Close Battle in the Opening Prologue

The opening effort set the tone for the first women’s edition of the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay. Bocchino delivered the fastest time, narrowly holding off Radatz in a close contest decided by less than half a second.

For D’Amico–CCN Women Cycling Team, Bocchino’s result brings an early victory at the UCI 2.2 event and puts the team in the spotlight as the race continues.

A New Women’s Race on the UCI America Calendar

While the men’s Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay reached its 81st edition this year, the women’s race made its debut and joined the UCI America calendar. After the prologue, the program includes three more stages, with an individual time trial scheduled for Saturday.

Brazil is represented by Avaí F.C. – FME Florianópolis – APGF, led by Radatz, and SESI Ciclismo, coached by Cris Silva, who is also competing. Brazilian rider Lara Gabriela is racing with Uruguay’s Club Ciclista Cruz del Sur.

The Race Continues

Bocchino’s narrow prologue victory gives D’Amico–CCN Women Cycling Team a strong start to the inaugural women’s Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay. With three stages still to come, the race continues to offer opportunities for riders to make their mark.
