In a stunning display of dominance, Carcueva claimed his third consecutive victory as the men's champion in the PhilCycling National Championships for Road 2024. The race, held on Friday, showcased Carcueva's exceptional skill and determination as he surged ahead of the competition.

Riding out of Cebu City, Carcueva executed a strategic move during the climb back to Tagaytay City, ultimately crossing the finish line with a remarkable time of 4 hours, 23 minutes, and 23.40 seconds. His stellar performance secured the gold medal in the premier event of the championships, presented by Standard Insurance and MVP Sports Foundation and organized by PhilCyling, under the leadership of Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, who also serves as the president of the Philippine Olympic Committee.

Jericho Jay Lucero, representing continental team Go-for-Gold, clinched a commendable second place, finishing just a minute after his team captain. The 178.30-km race, which commenced and concluded at the Praying Hands along Isaac Tolentino Avenue, witnessed fierce competition among the top riders.

The significance of the PhilCycling National Championships extends beyond individual victories, as the top finishers in the five-day, three-discipline event will be seeded to the national road team. This team will represent the Philippines in the upcoming Asian Championships later this year and the Southeast Asian Games scheduled for December  in Thailand.

A total of 69 riders answered the call to the Men Elite race, which traversed scenic routes through Nasugbu, Lian, Balayan, Tuy, Calaca, Lemery, Agoncillo, and Talisay in Batangas. Their dedication and perseverance exemplify the spirit of cycling and the passion for excellence that drives athletes to push their limits.

CCN Sport congratulates Carcueva and all participants for their outstanding performances and looks forward to witnessing their continued success on the road ahead. Stay tuned for more updates and highlights from the world of cycling.
